18 Sep Bottelfeest Chateau Amsterdam2020
Urban Wineries.
It seems like a contradiction in terms, but it is a new phenomenon, brought over from the United States.
An Urban Winery is a fun way to experience the fun of a winery without having to leave the city.
Especially in the case of Amsterdam, it’s quite a long car ride to the nearest winery.
Although: this is rapidly changing.
Since 2017, Chateau Amsterdam has been on the IJ in Amsterdam, where it established itself as the first Urban Winery in the Netherlands. This weekend you can become part of essential part of the process yourself: bottling.
And drinking it too, for that matter, all combined in one event.
During their annual Bottling Festival the last barrels of wine will be emptied.
That emptying can be done in small sample quantities but also in a bottle.
Bottling, in other words, and you can help them with that.
While you enjoy the musical entertainment of Pierre et les Optimistes or one of the delicious à la carte dishes.
And if you’re lucky, you can also help them mash grapes. Image credit: Chateau Amsterdam For a long weekend, Chateau Amsterdam will be transformed into the city’s coziest village square.
You can taste all their wines, including their new line Chateau Classique.
But you can also taste Chateau Modern here, a line of wines produced with less conventional techniques. Tickets are still available, but almost sold out.
