15 May Talisker X Parley: Wilder Seas
Few whiskey brands have such a deep connection to the sea as Talisker.
The western Isle Of Skye is very sparsely populated and of extraordinary beauty.
Here stands the distillery where Talisker is made.
To further emphasize their connection with the sea, they are joining forces with Parley for Wilder Seas, their newest single malt.
This whisky is a (somewhat) limited release and from every bottle sold, €3 will go to this organization, amounting to half a million pounds.
Total over one Also, the bottle is made of 100% recycled glass.
So a wonderful opportunity to make the world a more beautiful place while drinking.
Parley for the Oceans
Parley for the Oceans is the global network where creators, thinkers and leaders from the creative industries, brands, governments and environmental groups come together to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of the oceans and collaborate on projects that can end their destruction.
The organization has formed alliances with key partners such as Adidas, Anheuser Busch InBev (Corona), American Express, the Republic of the Maldives, the United Nations, the World Bank and collaborators from the worlds of science, art, fashion, design, entertainment, sports, space and ocean research.
100 million sq. ft.
Talisker and Parley are united by their shared love of the oceans.
They have had a mission since 2020 to protect and conserve 100 million square meters of marine ecosystems worldwide.
After three years of collaboration, Talisker and Parley achieved their original goals by establishing ocean conservation projects on the coasts of South Africa and Chile.
Now their efforts continue to grow to seas around the world, including a sea kelp research project closer to home in Scotland, set to begin in 2022.
Talisker’s commitment to the health of the oceans can be traced to fundraising for the mission through several limited edition whiskies, including Talisker 44-Year-Old: Forests of the Deep and Talisker x Parley Wilder Seas.
Future releases also serve to support the preservation of our seas for future generations.
Wilder Seas
A good cause is nice, of course, but it has to taste good.
Now that’s something they can do at Talisker not entirely by accident, make great whiskies.
Some 20 years ago I started drinking single malt myself through the Talisker 10 and I’m still a fan of its powerful flavor profile.
Even in this Wilder Seas, the distinctive balance between peat and sweetness comes out beautifully.
In this case also supported by the finish in ex-Cognac casks that this whisky was allowed to enjoy.
Particularly in the aftertaste, this character of sultanas and the spiciness of Cognac comes together wonderfully with the maritime notes of Talisker.
You taste the campfire, the pepperiness, the saltiness and at the same time the ripe, sweet fruit.
Through and through Talisker, but also with its own character.
The smokiness is right there, a lot happening, both in the nose and on the palate.
The finish is long, as it so often is with whiskies from this region, but also somewhat dry.
But it’s not just that peat that lingers.
Also a slightly briny finish, slightly peppery.
Real Talisker.
You buy the Talisker X Parley Wilder Seas on Malts.com and at select liquor stores.
