30 Dec The best new liqueurs of 2021
In the last weeks of the year, we look back at the news, charts, weather, politics, sports and much more.
Therefore, here is an overview of the best new drinks introduced in 2021.
In this article, we give you an overview of the best liquors that came on the market in the Netherlands, which we think you should not miss!
Kalani Coconut Rum Liqueur
Secretly, this is pretty much the discovery I made this past year.
It gives an amazingly fresh taste that is perfect for the Piña Colada.
Because it already contains alcohol, all you really have to do is add pineapple juice and citrus and you already have your cocktail.
Kalani is made in Mexico with fresh coconuts and Mexican rum.
Not very easy to find yet, as it has only recently entered the Dutch market.
What do you make with this?
Piña Colada, seems obvious.
45 ml white rum 30 ml Kalani 60 ml fresh pineapple juice 1 wedge of fresh lemon (garnish) Build this cocktail in a glass with ice cubes, stir briefly and add lemon juice to taste.
Flor de Caña Spresso
Without a doubt, you can call the Espresso Martini THE cocktail of 2021.
The main flavor modifier in this cocktail is the coffee liqueur you use, and in this regard, the Flor de Caña Spresso is a very fine one.
The base of this liqueur is 7-year-old rum from this famous rum house from Nicaragua.
This is mixed with a syrup with a rich coffee flavor, but without caffeine.
What do you make with this?
Espresso Martini 15 ml vodka 35 ml Flor de Caña Spresso 40 ml espresso (cooled) Shake well hard (a thick layer of foam should remain, otherwise shake again!) and finestrain into a cocktail coupe.
Villa Massa Amaretto
With truly sublime amaretto, Villa Massa expands its range.
Deliciously fresh with Sicilian almonds makes this a great liqueur to drink pure, but also as an ingredient for that famous cocktail: the Amaretto Sour.
What do you make with this?
Well, an Amaretto Sour, that is.
50 ml Villa Massa Amaretto 40 ml far lemon juice 20 ml sugar syrup 2 shots Angostura Bitter 1 egg white Shake everything together well in a shaker with plenty of ice and pour out into a large tumbler.
Tia Maria Matcha
Of course, we know the classic Tia Maria as the perfect ingredient for the Espresso Martini.
With the Matcha, Tia Maria takes a completely different tack.
Namely, it makes a cream liekur from a relatively unknown flavor, matcha tea.
This Japanese green powder is becoming increasingly well-known, especially for its health benefits.
That obviously plays no role in the Tia Maria Matcha, but the special flavor comes wonderfully natural in this liqueur.
What do you make with this?
Tia Matcha Tini 40 ml Tia Maria Matcha 40 ml vodka Shake well and finestrain in cocktail coupe.
Do you happen to have some real matcha powder on hand?
Then garnish the rim of your glass with that!

Licor 43 Chocolate
Since a good 20 years ago, Licor 43 has been one of the most widely consumed liqueurs in the Netherlands.
And quite rightly so, because Licor is simply very good.
To offer the connoisseur a little more variety, a number of innovations have been launched, such as the Baristo (with coffee) and Horchato (tiger nut milk, cinnamon, citrus).
This fall the Chocolate has been added, made from 100 percent organic chocolate.
The flavor profile will, of course, be based on Licor 43’s signature ingredients.
What do you make with this?
Cocoa & Coffee Espresso 35 ml Licor 43 Chocolate 15 ml vodka 40 ml espresso (cooled) Shake very well and finestrain in a cocktail coupe
DiSaronno Velvet
So for DiSaronno lovers who also like cream liqueurs, this is totally the bomb.
Made from Dutch dairy and of course with the distinctive flavors of DiSaronno originale.
Because it is a cream liqueur, it is very suitable for after dinner cocktails, with desserts or just pure with ice cream.
What to drink with this.
White Velvet Espresso Martini 50 ml DiSaronno Velvet 25 ml Tia Maria 25 ml vodka Shake very well with lots of ice and finestrain in a chilled cocktail coupe.
Sprinkle with some chocolate shavings as garnish.
