One of the beverages that has grown the most in recent years is rum.
\nOriginally, this drink is made in the Caribbean and Central and South America.
\nMeanwhile, rum is distilled in almost every country in the world, although of course the molasses (the juice of pressed cane sugar) always comes from tropical places.
\nWithout a doubt the most famous rum brand in the world is Bacard\u00ed, which laid the foundation for modern rum in 1862.
\nStarting today, you can visit their Rum Room in Amsterdam, where everything can be explained to you about their older rums.  <\/p>\n

Angel’s Share<\/h4>\n

In Puerto Rico, row upon row of barrels of rum lie maturing under the tropical sun.
\nThat the interaction between wood and liquid goes a lot faster than in Scotland, for example, is obvious.
\nBut how much influence this has on the color, taste and the amount of liquor in the barrel can be seen beautifully in the Rum Room.
\nThe part that evaporates consists of both water and alcohol and is called The Angel’s Share.
\nThe most famous Bacard\u00ed is of course the Carta Blanca, which has been aged for at least 1 year.
\nThe fact that it is virtually colorless is due to a charcoal filtration that takes place after aging.
\nThe range of aged rums readily available in the Netherlands consists of 3 rums: Cuatro, Ocho and Diez A\u00f1os.  <\/p>\n

Tropical sun<\/h4>\n

The youngest, aged premium rum is Bacard\u00ed Anejo Cuatro of, obviously, four years old.
\nThe shimmering, golden rum has a honeyed flavor, balanced with mild vanilla and roasted oak.
\nA\u00f1ejo Cuatro looks best in a classic rum cocktail, such as a Daiquiri or a highball mixed with Ginger Ale.
\nThe eight-year-old BACARD\u00cd Reserva Ocho is a complex golden rum with a deep, layered and smooth taste of dried fruits, spices, oak and vanilla.
\nThis rum was inspired by a family recipe from 1862 and for seven generations was reserved only for the BACARD\u00cd family itself.
\nThe rum is perfect for sipping pure and lends itself well to cocktails with allure such as an Old Fashioned or an Old Cuban.
\nGran Reserva Diez has yet another expression and is not just an older version of Ocho.
\nDiez has something unique about it.
\nTake a sip of this 10-year-old rum and you’ll discover lots of oak and caramelized fruit.
\nThere are also those who discover melon, banana or mango in it.
\nThis rum is best drunk pure, with or without ice cubes.  <\/p>\n

The great thing about the Bacard\u00ed Rum Room is, of course, that you can immediately learn all about how these rums are made.
\nBut you can also buy these 3 beautiful bottles separately or as a whole, packed in a special gift box designed by Floor van het Nederend.
\nHe created 3 covers of these gift boxes, based on his own comic character Malvin the Cat.
\nEach gift box also includes 2 glasses.
\nYou only pay a very little extra for the whole thing, so basically a no-brainer.
\nFun to give but also perfect as a gift to yourself.   The Bacard\u00ed Rum Room is located at Oude Spiegelstraat 3, Amsterdam.
